Safety
Nothing starts until the crew knows the plan, the drop zone, and the escape route. Same discipline as a fire response — every time.
Trees & Co. isn't just another tree service. It's run by a 20+ year firefighter who started his career at the historic Pontiac Fire Department and built a crew that treats every property like a brother's house.
My journey in public service began while attending paramedic school and working various jobs before being hired by the Pontiac Fire Department in 2003 — a department with more than 175 years of proud history and tradition. I brought with me a strong work ethic rooted in my upbringing and a genuine passion for helping people.
Through extensive training, dedication, and experience in one of the region's busiest departments, I advanced through the ranks and became a Lieutenant. In 2012, the department transitioned into the Waterford Regional Fire Department.
Now, more than two decades later, my commitment to serving the community continues to grow. The mentorship, discipline, and brotherhood within the fire service helped shape me into a man who values integrity, professionalism, and respect. That same commitment to service extends beyond the firehouse through my involvement in nonprofit and community outreach efforts. Those values also carry into my work with Trees & Company — where safety, honesty, hard work, and treating people right remain at the center of everything we do.
— Hector Martinez, Owner
These aren't slogans we put on a truck. They're the difference between a clean job and a catastrophe — Hector's words.
Nothing starts until the crew knows the plan, the drop zone, and the escape route. Same discipline as a fire response — every time.
If a tree can be saved, we'll tell you. If your insurance covers the work, we'll help you file. The quote you sign is the price you pay.
Twenty-three years on a fire engine doesn't teach you to coast. We show up early, work the whole day, and don't pack up until the property is right.
You're going to talk to the same crew from the first walk-through to the final cleanup. We answer the phone, return calls, and act like we live next door — because we do.
The Pontiac Fire Department's history goes back over 175 years — well before most Michigan towns had a real fire service. When Hector pinned on his PFD badge in 2003, he stepped into that tradition: structure fires, rescues, discipline, brotherhood. The work shaped him before the title did.
In 2012, PFD transitioned into Waterford Regional Fire Department. The department changed name, but the standards and the people didn't. Hector continues serving the same community today.
That heritage is what we carry onto every Trees & Co. job site. Old discipline. Old respect. Carried forward.
A great tree service is the crew, not the owner. Trees & Co. runs a team of experienced climbers, ground crew, and equipment operators — most have worked together for years.
The crew runs on the same playbook Hector learned on a fire engine: plan the job, brief the team, execute with discipline, leave the property better than you found it. That's the only way we know how to work.
Hector's commitment to the community extends past his shifts on the fire engine and his tree crew. He's involved in nonprofit and community outreach work across Oakland County — quietly, the way he runs the rest of his life.
It's the same instinct that runs through everything Trees & Co. does: when neighbors need help, you show up. When a storm puts a tree through a roof at 2 a.m., you answer the phone. When a fellow first responder needs a hand, you give it.
